Lauryn Hill gets 'reprieve from three-month home confinement for tax evasion to go on tour' following recent release from prison

Mother of six: Hill, shown in April 2010 in New York City, released her new single Consumerism just before her release from prison
Lauryn Hill will be allowed to leave her home during her three-month home detention as part of her sentence for tax evasion, so she can go on tour.

The 38-year-old former Fugees singer was released from a minimum security federal prison on Friday after serving a three-month sentence for failing to pay taxes on $1.8m worth of income.
Hill released her new single Consumerism the night before she left the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Connecticut.
Hill asked a judge for a reprieve from home detention so she can tour from Nov. 15 through Dec. 31 and her request was granted, according to TMZ.
The move has allowed the Killing Me Softly singer to start booking venues for the concerts, and she will have to provide details on her dates, cities and hotels to her probation officer.
Hill must return home by Jan. 1 to complete the rest of her home detention sentence.
Her new single Consumerism was written and recorded before she entered prison, but was mixed while she was incarcerated.
The song on Monday had racked up more than 290,000 plays on the Soundcloud website and will appear on her next album Letters From Exile.
Hill served her prison sentence at the same jail where TV show Orange Is The New Black is filmed.
The New Jersey native had failed to pay her taxes from 2005 to 2007.
In addition to the three-month house detention, Hill also was placed under parole supervision for a year.
Hill started singing with The Fugees as a teenager in the 1990s before releasing her multiplatinum 1998 album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.
The Grammy winner is the mother of six and has five children with Rohan Marley, the son of reggae legend Bob, and a sixth with another man.
